- Total visits by travellers to Bay of Plenty RTO are forecast to rise from 3.49m in 2008 to 3.69m in 2015 - an increase of 5.6% (194,900) or 0.8% p.a.

- Domestic visits are expected to increase from 3.24m in 2008 to 3.39m in 2015, representing growth of 153,400 or 4.7%. The share of total visits generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 92.7% to 91.9%.

- Total visitor nights in Bay of Plenty RTO are forecast to rise from 4.01m in 2008 to 4.23m in 2015 - an increase of 5.7% (228,600) or 0.8% p.a.
- International visitor nights are expected to increase from 1.15m in 2008 to 1.31m in 2015, representing growth of 159,000 or 13.8%. The share of total visitor nights generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 28.7% to 30.9%.
- Domestic visitor nights are expected to increase from 2.86m in 2008 to 2.93m in 2015, representing growth of 69,600 or 2.4%. The share of total visitor nights generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 71.3% to 69.1%.
