Total Visits
- Total visits by travellers to Lake Taupo RTO are forecast to rise from 2.97m in 2008 to 3.12m in 2015 - an increase of 5.2% (153,500) or 0.7% p.a.
- International visits are expected to increase from 487,300 in 2008 to 561,000 in 2015, representing growth of 73,700 or 15.1%. The share of total visits generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 16.4% to 18.0%.
- Domestic visits are expected to increase from 2.48m in 2008 to 2.56m in 2015, representing growth of 79,800 or 3.2%. The share of total visits generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 83.6% to 82.0%.
Total Visitor Nights
- Total visitor nights in Lake Taupo RTO are forecast to rise from 3.13m in 2008 to 3.28m in 2015 - an increase of 5.0% (155,900) or 0.7% p.a.
- International visitor nights are expected to increase from 805,100 in 2008 to 913,300 in 2015, representing growth of 108,200 or 13.4%. The share of total visitor nights generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 25.7% to 27.8%.
- Domestic visitor nights are expected to increase from 2.32m in 2008 to 2.37m in 2015, representing growth of 47,700 or 2.1%. The share of total visitor nights generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 74.3% to 72.2%.
