Total visits by travellers to Canterbury RTO are forecast to rise from 11.27m in 2008 to 12.11m in 2015 - an increase of 7.4% (833,100) or 1.0% p.a.
International visits are expected to increase from 2.64m in 2008 to 3.06m in 2015, representing growth of 421,300 or 16.0%. The share of total visits generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 23.4% to 25.2%.
Domestic visits are expected to increase from 8.64m in 2008 to 9.05m in 2015, representing growth of 411,900 or 4.8%. The share of total visits generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 76.6% to 74.8%.

Total visitor nights in Canterbury RTO are forecast to rise from 13.07m in 2008 to 14.24m in 2015 - an increase of 9.0% (1.17m) or 1.2% p.a.
International visitor nights are expected to increase from 6.62m in 2008 to 7.53m in 2015, representing growth of 910,000 or 13.7%. The share of total visitor nights generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 50.7% to 52.9%.
Domestic visitor nights are expected to increase from 6.45m in 2008 to 6.71m in 2015, representing growth of 264,700 or 4.1%. The share of total visitor nights generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 49.3% to 47.1%.
