Total Visits

  • Total visits by travellers to Central Otago RTO are forecast to rise from 786,000 in 2008 to 815,900 in 2015 - an increase of 3.8% (29,900) or 0.5% p.a.
  • International visits are expected to increase from 66,900 in 2008 to 78,200 in 2015, representing growth of 11,300 or 16.9%. The share of total visits generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 8.5% to 9.6%.
  • Domestic visits are expected to increase from 719,100 in 2008 to 737,700 in 2015, representing growth of 18,600 or 2.6%. The share of total visits generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 91.5% to 90.4%.

 

Total Visitor Nights

  • Total visitor nights in Central Otago RTO are forecast to rise from 839,600 in 2008 to 877,700 in 2015 - an increase of 4.5% (38,100) or 0.6% p.a.
  • International visitor nights are expected to increase from 146,400 in 2008 to 167,000 in 2015, representing growth of 20,600 or 14.1%. The share of total visitor nights generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 17.4% to 19.0%.
  • Domestic visitor nights are expected to increase from 693,200 in 2008 to 710,700 in 2015, representing growth of 17,500 or 2.5%. The share of total visitor nights generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 82.6% to 81.0%.
