Total Visits

  • Total visits by travellers to Queenstown RTO are forecast to rise from 1.74m in 2008 to 1.91m in 2015 - an increase of 9.5% (165,000) or 1.3% p.a.
  • International visits are expected to increase from 933,200 in 2008 to 1.08m in 2015, representing growth of 147,600 or 15.8%. The share of total visits generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 53.5% to 56.6%.
  • Domestic visits are expected to increase from 810,500 in 2008 to 827,900 in 2015, representing growth of 17,400 or 2.1%. The share of total visits generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 46.5% to 43.4%.

 

Total Visitor Nights

  • Total visitor nights in Queenstown RTO are forecast to rise from 3.43m in 2008 to 3.75m in 2015 - an increase of 9.4% (321,100) or 1.3% p.a.
  • International visitor nights are expected to increase from 2.31m in 2008 to 2.60m in 2015, representing growth of 286,000 or 12.4%. The share of total visitor nights generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 67.5% to 69.4%.
  • Domestic visitor nights are expected to increase from 1.11m in 2008 to 1.15m in 2015, representing growth of 35,100 or 3.2%. The share of total visitor nights generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 32.5% to 30.6%.
