Total visitor arrivals up by 5.8% over the same period last year.
- Ups: Australia 1%, China 116%, Japan 56%, South Korea 3%, Germany 3%, India 20%
- Downs: UK -17%, US -0.2%, Canada -0.4%, Singapore -6%
Total NZ trips abroad up by 7.2% over the same period last year.
- Ups: Australia 9%, Fiji 1%, UK 6%, US 7%, China 53%, Cook Islands 28%, Samoa 24%, Thailand 2%
- Downs: India -10%, Canada -9%

It is important to note that this data is provisional based on a majority of data processed, and will be revised when all data is processed. Final data will be available when it is released by Statistics New Zealand usually around the third week of each month.
Comparisons of data for 'equivalent' periods a year apart need to be treated with caution, as data for one period may be influenced by events for which there is no equivalent in the other period (eg the days leading up to Christmas, Chinese New Year, Easter, school holidays, etc).
