The Impact of Adverse Events on New Zealand Tourism
Last updated:
April 2009
The objective of this study is to develop a better understanding of the influence that
major adverse events have on levels of tourism activity in New Zealand.
The foundation of this report is a careful examination of the impacts that recent adverse
events have had on some of New Zealand’s largest inbound markets: Australia, the
United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Japan and South Korea.
The impact of adverse events on New Zealand outbound travel is also examined because of the substitution effect between outbound and domestic travel.
