Forecast Pivot Tables

Each year the Ministry, with wide industry input, revises the forecasts for a seven-year projection period. The most recent forecasts cover the period to 2014.

Caveat on the Forecasts

Significant changes to the global economy over the past six months mean that the Ministry of Tourism’s 2008-2014 tourism forecasts need to be treated with caution, particularly for the outlook over the next 1-2 years.

Forecast 1 - Inbound Forecasts
Contains forecasts of international visitor arrivals - by origin/market and purpose. Also includes visitor nights, spend and length of stay.

Forecast 2 - Inbound Forecasts by Air Port and Month
Contains forecasts of international visitor arrivals - by port, month and key market.

Forecast 3 - Domestic Forecasts
Contains forecasts of domestic travel at the national level - by day trip, overnight trip, visitor nights, spend and purpose.

Forecast 4 - Outbound Forecasts
Contains forecasts of short-term overseas trips by New Zealand residents - by main destination and purpose.

Forecast 5 - Regional Forecasts
Contains forecasts of international and domestic visitors to regions in New Zealand, including visits, nights and spend.
