Each year the Ministry, with wide industry input, revises the forecasts for a seven-year projection period. The current forecasts cover the period to 2014.
Significant changes to the global economy over the past six months mean that the Ministry of Tourism’s 2008-2014 tourism forecasts need to be treated with caution, particularly for the outlook over the next 1-2 years.
Regional Forecast Reports
Full forecast reports for each of New Zealand's 30 tourism regions are available. In addition to providing forecast information at the national and regional level, they give valuable base year information on tourism activity (domestic and international). Information covered includes origin of visitors, and total visitor nights.
