Lake Taupo RTO Forecasts 2008 - 2014
Total Visits
- Total visits by travellers to Lake Taupo RTO are forecast to rise from 2.35m in 2007 to 2.58m in 2014 - an increase of 10.2% (239,200) or 1.4% p.a.
- International visits are expected to increase from 503,200 in 2007 to 632,300 in 2014, representing growth of 129,100 or 25.7%. The share of total visits generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 21.5% to 24.5%.
- Domestic visits are expected to increase from 1.84m in 2007 to 1.95m in 2014, representing growth of 110,100 or 6.0%. The share of total visits generated by
domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 78.5% to 75.5%.
Total Visitor Nights
- Total visitor nights in Lake Taupo RTO are forecast to rise from 3.24m in 2007 to 3.56m in 2014 - an increase of 9.8% (318,000) or 1.3% p.a.
- International visitor nights are expected to increase from 830,600 in 2007 to 1.04m in 2014, representing growth of 204,900 or 24.7%. The share of total visitor nights generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 25.7% to 29.1%.
- Domestic visitor nights are expected to increase from 2.41m in 2007 to 2.52m in 2014, representing growth of 113,100 or 4.7%. The share of total visitor nights
generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 74.3% to 70.9%.
