Total Visits
- Total visits by travellers to Waikato RTO are forecast to rise from 6.76m in 2007 to 7.55m in 2014 - an increase of 11.6% (786,000) or 1.6% p.a.
- International visits are expected to increase from 647,500 in 2007 to 827,600 in 2014, representing growth of 180,100 or 27.8%. The share of total visits
generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 9.6% to 11.0%.
- Domestic visits are expected to increase from 6.12m in 2007 to 6.72m in 2014, representing growth of 605,900 or 9.9%. The share of total visits generated by
domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 90.4% to 89.0%.
Total Visitor Nights
- Total visitor nights in Waikato RTO are forecast to rise from 4.49m in 2007 to 5.07m in 2014 - an increase of 13.0% (585,000) or 1.8% p.a.
- International visitor nights are expected to increase from 1.67m in 2007 to 2.11m in 2014, representing growth of 441,300 or 26.4%. The share of total visitor
nights generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 37.3% to 41.7%.
- Domestic visitor nights are expected to increase from 2.82m in 2007 to 2.96m in 2014, representing growth of 143,700 or 5.1%. The share of total visitor nights
generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 62.7% to 58.3%.
