Total visits by travellers to Canterbury RTO are forecast to rise from 9.83m in 2007 to 10.92m in 2014 - an increase of 11.1% (1.09m) or 1.5% p.a.
International visits are expected to increase from 2.56m in 2007 to 3.22m in 2014, representing growth of 657,100 or 25.7%. The share of total visits generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 26.1% to 29.5%.
Domestic visits are expected to increase from 7.27m in 2007 to 7.70m in 2014, representing growth of 433,200 or 6.0%. The share of total visits generated by
domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 73.9% to 70.5%.

Total visitor nights in Canterbury RTO are forecast to rise from 12.32m in 2007 to 14.32m in 2014 - an increase of 16.2% (2.00m) or 2.2% p.a.
International visitor nights are expected to increase from 6.52m in 2007 to 8.27m in 2014, representing growth of 1.75m or 26.9%. The share of total visitor nights generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 52.9% to 57.8%.
Domestic visitor nights are expected to increase from 5.80m in 2007 to 6.05m in 2014, representing growth of 247,400 or 4.3%. The share of total visitor nights
generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 47.1% to 42.2%.
