Central Otago RTO 2008 - 2014 Forecasts

 

Total Visits

  • Total visits by travellers to Central Otago RTO are forecast to rise from 503,800 in 2007 to 533,800 in 2014 - an increase of 6.0% (30,000) or 0.8% p.a.
  • International visits are expected to increase from 61,300 in 2007 to 75,500 in 2014, representing growth of 14,200 or 23.2%. The share of total visits generated
    by international visitors is expected to increase from 12.2% to 14.1%.
  • Domestic visits are expected to increase from 442,500 in 2007 to 458,300 in 2014, representing growth of 15,800 or 3.6%. The share of total visits generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 87.8% to 85.9%.

 

Total Visitor Nights

  • Total visitor nights in Central Otago RTO are forecast to rise from 748,300 in 2007 to 806,400 in 2014 - an increase of 7.8% (58,100) or 1.1% p.a.
  • International visitor nights are expected to increase from 158,100 in 2007 to 198,300 in 2014, representing growth of 40,200 or 25.4%. The share of total visitor nights generated by international visitors is expected to increase from 21.1% to 24.6%.
  • Domestic visitor nights are expected to increase from 590,200 in 2007 to 608,100 in 2014, representing growth of 17,900 or 3.0%. The share of total visitor nights generated by domestic visitors is expected to decrease from 78.9% to 75.4%.
